Went and met with the surgeon today. He was really nice and very informative. I need to participate in a 6 month weight loss program through his office, before I have surgery. This is an insurance requirement. Oh well....I scheduled all of those appointments, as well as scheduling the appointment for my psychological evaluation. I have time now to get everything in order for the surgery. So, if I can have it this coming Spring (March/April) that would be great. Fingers crossed.
Right now, for the next 6 months, I have to be on a high protein, low carb diet, as well as loose 10% of my current weight. So the diet, food above ground good...below ground, not so good. Other than that, I just have to be active, which I am already. I have two 5Ks this weekend, one I'm doing with my daughter. We did it last year, but I think we will make it a tradition. :)

I can tell you that WLS is not a guarantee. I thought I was in the perfect place to have mine and my head was on straight. While it did get me out of the danger zone, I wound up putting back on more than half of my loss (100 lbs, before coming to terms this time around and doing things in my own fashion. Give it a lot of thought before you pull the trigger. Best of luck!

Thanks Mike. I have 6-7 months to figure it out and decide if this is something I really want to do. I know that WLS has both helped and hurt lots of people. In the end, I have to work on the habits and things that I've learned over the past 3+ years and take it from there. We shall see...
You have the right mindset, pf. Good luck!
I look forward to following this part of your journey. I know it's not an easy decision to make and I was in the same place you are now, with a surgery date but in the end changed my mind. It was the right decision for me and I have no regrets. You have to make the right decision for YOU.
I have a dear friend who is having VSG surgery tomorrow and I know he thought long and hard before making his decision as well.
I think too many people assume that WLS patients do this without any thought or consideration. It is a big step and not one made lightly by anyone I don't think.
Hi Enz! Thanks for stopping by. WLS is a huge, life changing decision and something that shoould not be taken lightly. I hate when people call it the "easy way" beacause there is nothing easy about it. Currently, I'm following the pre-op diet that the doctor gave me to do for the next 6 months, as well as exercise.
